Συμβαίνουν και στις καλύτερες Linux οικογένειες!

Όλοι χρησιμοποιούμε τον linux πυρήνα και σε γενικές γραμμές γνωρίζουμε πως γίνεται η ανάπτυξη του. Μας διαφεύγουν όμως κάποιες λεπτομέρειες και κάποιες καταστάσεις που μπορεί να συμβαίνουν. Ας δούμε λοιπόν μια χαρακτηριστική στιγμή απο τη ζωή στον πυρήνα.

Τα πάντα ξεκίνησαν απο την αναφορά ενός bug απο τον Steven Rostedt:

Η αναφορά του σφάλματος και κυρίως η στάση του developer της Red Hat, Kay Sievers έκανε έξω φρενών τον Linux Torvalds:

And by "their" you mean Kay Sievers.

Key, I'm f*cking tired of the fact that you don't fix problems in the
code *you* write, so that the kernel then has to work around the
problems you cause.

Greg - just for your information, I will *not* be merging any code
from Kay into the kernel until this constant pattern is fixed.

of this "I can do whatever I want, others have to clean up after me"

Αυτό ήταν λοιπόν ένα απο τα καθημερινά επεισόδια στην ανάπτυξη του πυρήνα. Όσον αφορα τον Kay Sievers έχει υπάρξει ο κύριος developer πίσω απο τον udev device manager το systemd και τον Gummiboot EFI boot loader. Επίσης, βρίσκεται και πίσω απο τη μεταφορά των /lib, /bin  και /sbin file κάτω απο τον κατάλογο  /usr στο Fedora.
